It is difficult for the patients themselves to aware and judge that they have SAS because it happens only during sleep. Some symptoms such as daytime somnolence develop, however, even the patients with severe condition often are not aware of the symptoms. That is why most patients do not visit hospital unless their family, acquaintances or doctors point out problems and there are still many patients who have not been diagnosed with SAS. On the other hand, it has a significant impact on patients’ daily life because it leads to cardiovascular diseases including myocardial infarction, stroke, arrhythmia, and hypertension, impaired mental activity including daytime drowsiness and poor concentration, and social problems including traffic accidents.
If you were pointed out the possibility of SAS, we strongly recommend that you proactively see a doctor to be diagnosed and have treatments.
