I am Kazuma Kishi, M.D., Ph.D., the professor and the chair of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Toho University Omori Medical Center.
Respiratory disease is characterized by its variety, such as malignant diseases including lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma, diffuse lung diseases including interstitial pneumonia and sarcoidosis, respiratory infections including pneumonia and non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis, allergic diseases including asthma, and sleep apnea syndrome. We have specialists in these diseases and provide advanced treatments for them. For lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia in particular, we are taking part in a lot of clinical trials to develop novel therapeutic methods. We perform more than 500 bronchoscopic and endobronchial ultrasonography examinations a year to make diagnoses. Recently, cryobiopsy and thoracoscope under local anesthesia became available. We will proactively treat the patients not only in this country but also from abroad.
