Palliative Care Center
We, medical staff engaged in the field of palliative care, focus on “distress” in patients and their families rather than individual diseases. Palliative care is definitely not in the mainstream of medicine. Mainstream medicine means diagnoses and treatments provided by specialized clinical departments such as internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, and urology, etc. However, I believe that mainstream medication should be provided in a spirit of palliative care. Palliative care places importance on relieving the “distress” in patients and their families, thus it may be considered as the foundation in medical care.
