Patient Care

The Chemotherapy Center established a chemotherapy room for outpatients in April 2010 after renovating a hospital ward on the third floor of Building 1. At present, we operate 40 beds and 7 recliners.
Our staff consist of 7 dedicated nurses including certified nurses and 2 certified pharmacists in cancer treatment. The chemotherapy room is open from 9 am to 5 pm in principle. In accordance with our adverse event policy, we have doctors on duty, who are dispatched by other departments and work in two shifts (9 am to 1 pm / 1 pm to 5 pm), to provide treatments for adverse events immediately. The room is equipped with TV (paid service) and amenities in order to enable our patients to stay as comfortable as possible during chemotherapy. Our advantage is that we can provide our patients with nutritional guidance and oral care by dietitians and dental hygienists, and also patients can consult palliative care doctors about palliative care. In order to provide our patients with advanced chemotherapy, we hold the monthly board to assess and approve validity of the chemotherapy regimens approved to be covered by public health insurance, and we make efforts to provide the same therapies as cancer hospitals without a time-lag.
Besides, we host “Toho Chemotherapy Meeting” twice a year for all medical staff (doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical staff) jointly with Omori Medical Association, Kamata Medical Association, and Denen-chofu Medical Association to share the latest information about chemotherapy. Our pharmaceutical department also hosts “Cooperation Meeting” annually with pharmacies in our community for the purpose of sharing information about regimens for each cancer type or side effects which we need to be careful about.
